Most modern websites are overhauled every five years. Our website at Tax has not been overhauled since the 1990s. Many of you have written to and talked with us for years about the need for a new website. At long last, it gives me great pleasure to share our revamped website with you. Welcome to www.tax.wv.gov.

Our site has undergone quite a change. The look is different. The content is evolving. We are working every day to make it better for our taxpayers and for you.

The first thing that will look different is the appearance of the site. It’s colorful and inviting, but not too busy.

The next thing you’ll notice will be how it is organized. On the main menu you will find tax information arranged by tax type. You’ll see Individuals, Business, and Tax Professionals tabs. You’ll see that we’ve included research and municipal information under a tab called Research and Government. There is an also an About tab where taxpayers can learn about our agency, its divisions and get contact information.

Overall, I think you’ll find our new website a good tool for you as your prepare your taxes or someone else’s, conduct business in the State of West Virginia and/or look for statistical data on taxes in the Mountain State. You may find yourself exploring the site while you look for familiar forms and information. It’s probably there, but it’s likely moved. Please don’t get frustrated. Just e-mail us for guidance.
